A different kind of sequence
Keep these points in mind. Scorpion on jdybhcw.com uses one 52-card deck with four suits. The tableau has seven columns. Four complete King-to-Ace runs clear the game. Moves build down in the same suit rather than allowing cross-suit destinations.
Read the opening cards
All cards in the last three columns are face up. Each opening column contains seven cards for a total of 49 tableau cards. Three cards remain in the stock. The first three cards in each of the first four columns are face down.
Check rank and suit together
Keep these points in mind. A King cannot land on another card because no higher rank exists. A seven of hearts can land on an exposed eight of hearts. A moved group's leading card must land on a card exactly one rank higher in the same suit. A seven of hearts cannot land on an eight of spades.
Move exposed groups
Keep these points in mind. The leading selected card still has to meet the destination rule. The selected cards do not need to descend in rank to travel together. Any face-up card can be selected together with every card beneath it. The selected cards do not need to share a suit to travel together.
The empty-column rule
A few details help explain this feature. An empty column accepts a King or a group led by a King. A group led by a lower rank cannot enter an empty column. An empty column is therefore less flexible than an empty column in ordinary Spider. Cards beneath a moved King do not need to be in sequence.
Reveal the hidden cards
The following details apply here. An exposed card can carry the cards beneath it when its own destination is legal. Removing all face-up cards above a hidden card turns that hidden card face up. The next hidden card is revealed automatically. Undo restores the earlier hidden-card arrangement when the move is reversed.
Use the stock once
The stock contains one final deal of three cards. Dealing places a face-up card on each of the first three columns. There are no further stock cards after the three-card deal. This Scorpion version permits its stock deal when columns are empty.
Collect ordered runs
A few details help explain this feature. A completed run must descend from King to Ace in one suit. The game removes a qualifying run automatically from the bottom of a column. All thirteen cards in a collected run must be face up. Moving an unordered group does not make that group a completed sequence.
Practice Scorpion decisions
Keep these points in mind. Checking the whole moved group helps you anticipate what will become blocked. Hint lists legal choices without promising a winning continuation. A move can carry unwanted cards along with a useful leading card. Replay and Undo let you explore another approach to the same layout.
